Parents' Views on Young Children's Distance Learning and Screen Time During COVID-19 Class Suspension in Hong Kong

Eva Yi Hung Lau et al.

Summary: The study found that most children encountered difficulties in completing distance learning tasks at home, with major issues being lack of learning interests and limitations related to home environment. Parents expressed dissatisfaction with distance learning during class suspension without online learning, and called for more interactive online learning, better support from schools, flexible work arrangements, and government subsidies. High electronic device usage without parental mediation was observed during class suspension, highlighting the need for schools to introduce diversified on- and off-line activities and support parents in managing children's screen time.
