Financial profitability of diversified farming systems: A global meta-analysis

Summary: A global meta-analysis of 3192 effect sizes from 119 peer-reviewed articles provides compelling evidence that diversified farming systems are at least as profitable as simplified systems. The analysis revealed a diversity of land fragmentation forms and identified 40 different fragmentation scenarios, emphasizing the need for a combination of various spatial and non-spatial effectors in management interventions.
