Effects of home confinement on physical activity, nutrition, and sleep quality during the COVID-19 outbreak in amateur and elite athletes

Summary: The aim of this study was to analyze the moderating influence of physical activity (PA) and dietary habits on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic experience on sleep quality in elite and amateur athletes. The study found that the PA level of elite athletes was higher than amateur athletes during COVID-19, but both categories of athletes had lower PA levels during COVID-19 than pre-COVID-19. Amateurs had higher diet quality than elite athletes during the pandemic. Overall, maintaining high levels of PA for amateurs and good quality dietary habits by elite athletes are important for their sleep quality during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The development and validation of a novel COVID19 stigma scale among healthcare workers (COVISS-HCWs)

Summary: This study developed and validated a reliable and valid COVID-19 Stigma Scale (COVISS-HCWs) to measure stigma among healthcare workers. It also investigated the experience of stigma among healthcare workers dealing with COVID-19 patients in public hospitals in Damascus, Syria. The results showed that 9.86% of healthcare workers reported feeling stigmatized, and younger age, low socioeconomic status, and higher intensity of contact with COVID-19 patients were significantly correlated with higher stigmatization.

COVID-19-related stigma and its sociodemographic correlates: a comparative study
