Conflict (Work-Family and Family-Work) and Task Performance: The Role of Well-Being in This Relationship

Summary: Recent societal changes have brought new challenges to contemporary organisations, such as managing work-family and family-work conflicts and promoting task performance. This study examined the relationship between conflict and task performance, as well as the moderating role of well-being. The results showed that family-work conflict was negatively associated with task performance, while work-family conflict was negatively associated with well-being. Well-being was positively associated with performance and moderated the relationship between conflict and task performance.

Results indicate suboptimal enacted scope of practice, correlated with lower work satisfaction and negative outcomes. Improving nurses' enacted scope of practice could enhance organizational performance, patient care, and nurses' satisfaction.

Psychological coherence, inclusive leadership and implicit absenteeism in obstetrics and gynecology nurses: a multi-site survey

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the role of psychological coherence in the inclusive leadership and implicit absenteeism among obstetrics and gynecology nurses. The results showed that obstetrics and gynecology nurses have serious recessive absenteeism with low sense of psychological coherence and inclusive leadership. Nursing managers should improve the psychological coherence through effective interventions to reduce the incidence of implicit absenteeism.

Association between work-family conflict and depressive symptoms in female workers: An exploration of potential moderators

Summary: This study investigated the association between work-family conflict, depressive symptoms, and potential moderators among adult female workers. The results showed that female workers with high levels of work-family conflict were more likely to have depressive symptoms than those with low levels. Furthermore, the association was moderated by factors such as age, education and income levels, marital status, family size, number of children, and job conditions.

Job Characteristics, Emotional Exhaustion, and Work-Family Conflict in Nurses

It found that job demands and job support have conflicting effects on employee sickness presence and absence. High job control was identified as the most beneficial factor for health, while role conflicts and work-to-family conflicts were associated with decreased health and increased absenteeism and presenteeism.

Relationship between work-family conflict and turnover intention in nurses: A meta-analytic review

Summary: The meta-analysis revealed a moderate, positive, and significant relationship between work-family conflict and turnover intention. Individualism and long-term orientation were identified as significant moderators in this relationship, explaining 90% of the effect size heterogeneity. Cultures characterized by high individualism and long-term orientation were found to weaken the link between work-family conflict and turnover intention.
