Corn and soybean prevented planting acres response to weather

Christopher N. Boyer et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of monthly precipitation and temperature on the prevented planting acres of corn and soybeans in the United States from 1996 to 2019. The results show that precipitation from January to May affects corn prevented planting acres, while precipitation in May and June affects soybean prevented planting acres. Additionally, higher average temperatures in April decrease both corn and soybean prevented planting acres. The findings provide insights into the influence of weather on prevented planting acres and indemnities.

Seasonally Dependent Future Changes in the US Midwest Hydroclimate and Extremes

Wenyu Zhou et al.

Summary: This study investigates the responses of the hydroclimate and extremes in the U.S. Midwest to global warming, and finds that future precipitation will have a seasonal variation, with increased precipitation in late spring and reduced precipitation in late summer. This leads to increased late-spring floods and intensified late-summer droughts.
