Impact Analysis of Solar Cells on Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) Fixed-Wing UAV

Magdalena Peciak et al.

Summary: Vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) is a type of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that allows for flight in harsh weather and remote areas. VTOL UAVs, especially those powered by solar cells, have extended range and flight time compared to those without solar cells. These UAVs are useful in limited space and urban locations.

Energy Autonomy Simulation Model of Solar Powered UAV

Krzysztof Mateja et al.

Summary: The energy autonomy of UAVs is a crucial aspect in aerospace, and solar cells provide a solution for continuous flight by harvesting energy from the sun. We developed a simulation model considering external restrictions and the UAV's limits to accurately calculate the energy obtained by solar cells. The UAV powered by solar cells demonstrated its capability of continuous flight without landing.

Assessment of the Potential of Electric Propulsion for General Aviation Using Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) Methodology

Magdalena Peciak et al.

Summary: This paper analyzes the possibility of using small electric aircraft for general aviation flying, develops simulation models for different tasks, and determines the performance requirements. The results indicate that small electric aircraft can be used for flights, touch-and-go operations, and glider towing near airports.

Automation of a Thin-Layer Load-Bearing Structure Design on the Example of High Altitude Long Endurance Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (HALE UAV)

Wojciech Skarka et al.

Summary: The text highlights the importance of using thin-layer composites in the aerospace industry for load-bearing structures, and emphasizes the need to pay special attention to the development of an appropriate geometric form of the structure. Software was developed to propose and quickly evaluate thin-layer load-bearing structures through generative modeling methods, and the Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis was used to verify and improve these structures. The paper also introduces a methodology for automating the design of ultralight and highly flexible aircraft structures using generative modeling.
