Intra-Articular Hyaluronic Acid in Osteoarthritis and Tendinopathies: Molecular and Clinical Approaches

Fabio Ramos Costa et al.

Summary: Musculoskeletal diseases, such as osteoarthritis and tendinopathies, have a significant impact on society and individuals' quality of life. Intra-articular hyaluronic acid (HA) has emerged as a safe and effective treatment option for these conditions, providing multiple benefits such as lubrication, anti-inflammation, and stimulation of cellular activity. This review addresses the scientific, commercial, and clinical aspects of HA, providing physicians with a deeper understanding of disease processes, tissue repair mechanisms, and the advantages of different HA types.

Platelet-Rich Plasma Gel Matrix (PRP-GM): Description of a New Technique

Thales Thiago Ferreira Godoi et al.

Summary: Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an autologous product with immunomodulatory and anabolic properties that has been used in combination with hyaluronic acid (HA) and a new product called plasma gel for enhanced tissue repair and wound healing in musculoskeletal conditions. Plasma gels, formed by polymerizing plasmatic proteins, are considered a rich source of growth factors and have chemotactic, migratory, and proliferative properties. This regenerative approach, named PRP-HA cellular gel matrix (PRP-GM), may contribute to the optimization of regenerative protocols for the treatment of degenerative musculoskeletal diseases.

The Role of Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1) in the Control of Neuroendocrine Regulation of Growth

Sarmed Al-Samerria et al.

Summary: The neuroendocrine system in mammals plays a crucial role in regulating body growth and cellular metabolism through the communication between the hypothalamus and pituitary. Growth hormone (GH) is considered the master regulator of somatic development and is involved in carbohydrate and lipid metabolism via well-defined signaling pathways. The role of IGF-1 in regulating the GH-axis for somatic growth and metabolic homeostasis is essential for maintaining physiological functions.
