Osteoblasts and Fibroblasts Interaction with a Porcine Acellular Dermal Matrix Membrane

Pietro Felice et al.

Summary: The features and biological activities of an acellular porcine dermis collagen matrix membrane applicable during dental surgery were investigated, and the effects of hydration with NaCl were evaluated. Results showed that the hydrated membrane promoted cell proliferation and attachment, and increased mineralization and gene expression related to osteoblasts in oral cells.

Photodynamic Therapy by Mean of 5-Aminolevulinic Acid for the Management of Periodontitis and Peri-Implantitis: A Retrospective Analysis of 20 Patients

Roberto Rossi et al.

Summary: This paper reviews the results of using ALAD gel as a supportive therapy in the treatment of periodontal disease and peri-implantitis. The study found that the application of ALAD gel improved the condition of both teeth and implants, with no pain reported by the patients. Significant decreases in periodontal pocket depth were observed in periodontal disease patients after 3 and 6 months of treatment. For implant patients, the treatment was associated with decreases in periodontal pocket depth and bleeding on probing, but only the decrease in pocket depth was statistically significant.

A Porous Sodium Alginate-CaSiO3 Polymer Reinforced with Graphene Nanosheet: Fabrication and Optimality Analysis

Shahin Foroutan et al.

Summary: Bone regeneration is a popular and effective treatment for most bone diseases, with advanced bone tissue engineering being developed to combat adverse effects of conventional transplantation techniques. This study aimed to produce a bone scaffold with similar mechanical properties to normal bone, utilizing Na-Alg-WS-GS nanocomposites. The addition of 1wt% GS showed appropriate capacity for reconstitution in a biological solution, while increasing GS amount may decrease mechanical performance.

Comparative analysis of the light parameters of red and near-infrared diode lasers to induce photobiomodulation on fibroblasts and keratinocytes: An in vitro study

Nermin Topaloglu et al.

Summary: Background Photobiomodulation (PBM) relies on non-ionizing light energy to induce photochemical changes in mitochondria. This study found that using 655nm wavelength was more successful in inducing wound healing and cell proliferation in keratinocytes, while 808nm wavelength was more effective in promoting fibroblast healing and increasing cell proliferation by nearly 3 times compared to the control group. Using PBM with 655 and 808 nm wavelengths at specific energy densities can speed up the wound healing process, with 808nm being generally more successful.
