Structural optimization of rib-to-crossbeam joint in orthotropic steel decks

Heng Fang et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the possibility of cancelling the cope hole in orthotropic steel decks, comparing different modeling methods and optimizing dimensions of the rib-to-crossbeam joint without cope holes. The research results showed that the fatigue performance of the rib-to-crossbeam joint without cope holes is better than that of the joint with cope holes, considering less fatigue-prone locations and reduced fabrication costs.

Fatigue assessment of orthotropic steel bridge decks based on strain monitoring data

Jin Di et al.

Summary: Orthotropic steel decks are susceptible to fatigue cracks due to long-term wheel loading and manufacturing defects. This study investigated the stress behavior of typical connection details in OSDs under actual traffic flows and evaluated their fatigue performance, finding that urgent measures are needed to improve fatigue performance as the fatigue life of these details is less than 100 years. Additionally, finite element analysis showed that an ultra-high performance concrete composite pavement system can effectively reduce fatigue stress amplitudes in structural details.

Multiscale fatigue damage evolution in orthotropic steel deck of cable-stayed bridges

Chuang Cui et al.

Summary: This study investigates multiscale fatigue damage evolution in the deck-to-rib (DTR) joints of orthotropic steel deck (OSD) in a long-span cable-stayed steel bridge. By using multiscale finite element modeling and substructure techniques, the study demonstrates that the proposed model can effectively describe the entire fatigue damage process from micro crack nucleation to macro crack propagation.

Prediction analysis of deflection in the construction of composite box-girder bridge with corrugated steel webs based on MEC-BP neural networks

Xudong Wang et al.

Summary: This paper presents an efficient computational framework for deflection prediction in CSWs-PC bridges. By utilizing an optimized neural network model and incorporating the MEC algorithm, it achieves improved prediction performance and provides an effective prediction tendency for deflection control during complex construction processes.
