Deep Reinforcement Learning for Edge Caching with Mobility Prediction in Vehicular Networks

Yoonjeong Choi et al.

Summary: As vehicles are connected to the Internet, caching can help reduce transmission delay and improve service efficiency. In this study, a caching strategy utilizing RSUs and vehicles as caching nodes is proposed. By predicting vehicle locations using LSTM and determining content size using DDPG, the algorithm maximizes caching node throughput. Experimental results demonstrate better performance in terms of throughput, delay constraint satisfaction, and update cost compared to other methods.

Collaborative Offloading Method for Digital Twin Empowered Cloud Edge Computing on Internet of Vehicles

Linjie Gu et al.

Summary: Digital twinning and edge computing are attractive solutions for computing-intensive and service-sensitive Internet of Vehicles applications. Existing Internet of Vehicles service offloading solutions predominantly focus on edge-cloud collaboration, neglecting the collaboration between small cell eNodeB (SCeNB). This study proposes a framework that utilizes digital twinning and a novel algorithm called AUC-AC to improve service delay performance through collaborative computing between SCeNB nodes.

A Fairness-Enhanced Intelligent MAC Scheme Using Q-Learning-Based Bidirectional Backoff for Distributed Vehicular Communication Networks

Ping Wang et al.

Summary: With the increasing attention to front-edge vehicular communication applications, distributed resource allocation is beneficial to the direct communications between vehicle nodes. However, in highly dynamic distributed vehicular networks, quality of service (QoS) of the systems would degrade dramatically because of serious packet collisions in the absence of sufficient link knowledge. A Q-learning-based collision avoidance (QCA) scheme has been proposed to address the fairness optimization in intelligent distributed media access control protocols. The scheme utilizes an intelligent bidirectional backoff agent and reinforcement learning to achieve fair communication and allocation of resources.

Artificial Intelligence for Edge Service Optimization in Internet of Vehicles: A Survey

Xiaolong Xu et al.

Summary: This article explores the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for optimizing edge services in the Internet of Vehicles (IoV). It begins by introducing the concepts of IoV, edge computing (EC), and AI. It then reviews the edge service frameworks for IoV and examines the application of AI in edge server placement and service offloading. Finally, it discusses several open issues in optimizing edge services with AI.
