In this study, high ductility and strain-insensitive conductivity were found in chemical vapor deposited MoO2 nanofins, providing opportunities for their application in flexible electronics.
Bulk MoO2 is generally considered to be brittle. In this study, high ductility was found in chemical vapor deposited MoO2 nanofins with a large aspect ratio, which can be bent for a minimum radius of curvature of 3.2 mu m and restored to their initial status after unloading. Meanwhile, the conductivity of the MoO2 nanofins is insensitive to the applied strain with a small gauge factor of 1.39. Moreover, the MoO2 nanofin-based electrical device can withstand a large tensile strain of 6.96%. The strain-insensitive high conductivity of the ductile MoO2 nanofins brings opportunity for their application in flexible electronics.
