Identification of aroma active compounds in walnut oil by monolithic material adsorption extraction of RSC18 combined with gas chromatography-olfactory-mass spectrometry

Summary: A novel extraction method using monolithic material adsorption extraction (MMSE) was developed to extract volatile aroma compounds (VACs) from walnut oil. The efficiency of this method was compared to the conventional solid-phase microextraction (SPME) method. The new method showed a better performance and identified key aroma-active compounds in walnut oil.

Design of frontal chromatography separation of 1-phenylethanol and acetophenone using a hydrophobic resin

Summary: Adsorption and chromatographic processes were used to purify natural aromas produced via biocatalytic routes. The recovery of 1-phenylethanol (PE) from mixtures with different amounts of acetophenone (AP) was studied. Frontal chromatography using Amberlite FPX68 showed promising results with yields close to 90%. The experimental and modeling results were used for the scale-up of the chromatographic separation process.
