An embedded multiple case study: using CFIR to map clinical food security screening constructs for the development of primary care practice guidelines

Sabira Taher et al.

Summary: This study aimed to understand the implementation processes and outcomes of primary care-focused food insecurity screening initiatives. Two case studies were conducted in Chicago and Suburban Cook County, and it was found that screening patients and connecting them to food assistance programs can effectively address food insecurity. Limited internal resources were reported as implementation barriers, while community collaborations and internal alignment were identified as critical facilitators for successful implementation.

Summary: A systematic review was conducted on 198 mixed methods research articles published in selected U.S.-based and international health services management journals from 2000 through 2018. The review found limited but increasing use of MMR, a high degree of correspondence between MMR designs and study purposes, but inadequate justification for using MMR designs and reporting of method details and research integration in many publications.

What Influences Sustainment and Nonsustainment of Facilitation Activities in Implementation? Analysis of Organizational Factors in Hospitals Implementing TeamSTEPPS

Jure Baloh et al.

Summary: This study examined the influence of senior management support, middle management support, and team continuity on the sustainment of internal facilitation activities in small rural hospitals implementing a patient safety program. The combination of senior management support, middle management support, and team continuity was found to be a sufficient condition for sustainment, while the lack of middle management support or both time availability and team continuity hindered sustainment. Team leadership continuity was also identified as a factor influencing sustainment patterns.

Where Do Models for Change Management, Improvement and Implementation Meet? A Systematic Review of the Applications of Change Management Models in Healthcare

Reema Harrison et al.

Summary: The study found that 12 change management methodologies were applied in healthcare contexts, with the most common being Kotter's Model (19 studies) and Lewin's Model (11 studies). These methodologies were mainly applied in projects at local ward or unit level, institutional level, and system or multi-system levels. Change management methodologies were often used as guiding principles to support change in complex healthcare contexts.
