Effect of cutting flute design features on primary stability of immediate implant placement and restoration: a dynamic experimental analysis

Min-Chieh Hsieh et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of cutting flute shape on the primary stability of dental implants and finds that implants without cutting flutes exhibit higher stability. The straight flute design improves the stability of implants with aggressive threads.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the accuracy of dental implant placement using a task-autonomous robotic system and a dynamic navigation system. The results showed that the robotic system had more precise placement in both immediate and conventional implant procedures. However, further clinical trials are needed to confirm its performance.

Bone dimensional changes after flapless immediate implant placement with and without bone grafting: Randomized clinical trial

Ahmed Ibrahim Aboul Fettouh et al.

Summary: This randomized clinical trial investigated the vertical and horizontal changes observed 1 year after flapless immediate implantation, with and without xenograft, in sites with a thin labial plate. The results showed that compared to the control group, the xenograft group had an increased fill of the horizontal gap and a reduced vertical bone change.

Guidance and rationale for the immediate implant placement in the maxillary molar

Kezia Rachellea Mustakim et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the significance of immediate implant placement in maxillary molars and established guidelines for case selection and surgical technique. The use of tapered SLA implants resulted in a high survival rate of 93.10% in 26 patients. Fluctuating marginal bone level changes indicating bone regeneration and loss were observed within the first year, but remained stable after one year of prosthesis loading.

Summary: This study examines the osseointegration of different implant surfaces and finds that ultrahydrophilic implants initially improve bone integration compared to non-ultrahydrophilic implants. Consequently, ultrahydrophilic implants may be suitable in cases where accelerated and improved osseointegration is necessary.

Summary: This systematic review examined the impact of macro-geometry of titanium implants on osseointegration. The analysis of 16 selected articles indicated that the macro-geometry of titanium implants plays a role in osseointegration, but due to high heterogeneity among the studies, no statistical analysis could be performed.

Prospective clinical implementation of optional implant treatment into pregraduate dental education-mini implants for retention and support of mandibular overdentures

Peer W. Kaemmerer et al.

Summary: The study evaluated mini implant (MDI) survival, prosthodontic maintenance, and patient-reported outcome measures after conducting an optional pregraduate academic course on patients with mandibular edentulism. Results showed that therapy with MDI-retained mandibular overdentures at pregraduate level is feasible and successful with proper guidance. Patients' satisfaction increased over time and students showed positive perception and self-confidence in including MDI therapy into their own practice.

The Influence of the Implant Macrogeometry on Insertion Torque, Removal Torque, and Periotest Implant Primary Stability: A Mechanical Simulation on High-Density Artificial Bone

Margherita Tumedei et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the macro-design of dental implants may play a key role in primary stability, especially in low-density alveolar bone. Different macro-designs show varying levels of stability. Clinicians should consider patient characteristics and implant geometry when selecting an appropriate implant design for low-density jaw rehabilitation. Further research is needed to validate these findings.
