Integrating the SLIDE model within CAESAR-Lisflood: Modeling the ?rainfall-landslide-flash flood? disaster chain mechanism under landscape evolution in a mountainous area

Congrong Li et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the interaction mechanism between the changing environment and natural hazards following an earthquake. By integrating the SLIDE model and CAESAR-Lisflood model, the researchers successfully predicted landslide susceptibility under extreme rainfall in the Wenchuan earthquake-stricken area. The results showed that new/enlarged landslides are more likely to occur in mountain valleys and steep gullies, and that high landslide susceptibility areas are not necessarily located in areas with high vegetation recovery. The integrated model provides valuable information for regional disaster management and reduction.

Trends and Variability in Flood Magnitude: A Case Study of the Floods in the Qilian Mountains, Northwest China

Xueliang Wang et al.

Summary: Analyzing the trends and causes of flood magnitude changes in the Qilian Mountains is crucial for managing water resources in arid and semi-arid regions. Based on the analysis of data from 12 rivers, it was found that the majority of the rivers showed a significant decrease in flood magnitude, which can be attributed to increasing temperatures and precipitation.

Optimizing the Performance of Coupled 1D/2D Hydrodynamic Models for Early Warning of Flash Floods

Georgios Mitsopoulos et al.

Summary: This study uses the HEC-RAS 1D/2D model to simulate a flood event in the town of Mandra, Greece, and investigates the minimum required computation grid and the required form of hydrodynamic equations in 2D modeling to minimize computational time. The results show that the diffusion wave equations underestimate water depths, while the shallow water equations result in slightly larger inundation areas, but these differences are within an acceptable range.

Application of HEC-HMS Parameter Regionalization in Small Watershed of Hilly Area

Xu Cheng et al.

Summary: This paper explores the applicability of the HEC-HMS model in small ungauged watersheds in hilly areas, using hydrological divisions III and IV of Henan Province as the research area. The study establishes regression relationships between model parameters and underlying surface characteristics, showing that the HEC-HMS model can effectively simulate the rainfall-runoff process in small watersheds in hilly areas.
