The Roles of Family and School Members in Influencing Children's Eating Behaviours in China: A Narrative

Summary: This review examines the impact of family and school members on children in China to promote healthy eating habits among children and prevent childhood malnutrition in the Global South. The study found that parental education levels, mother's occupation, health awareness of parents and teachers, and positive feeding styles were positively associated with children's healthy eating behaviors, while caregivers' lack of nutritional knowledge, misperception of weight, instrumental and/or emotional feeding, and nonstandard shift work were negatively associated with children's healthy eating behaviors.

Assessing eating disorder symptoms in low and middle-income countries: a systematic review of psychometric studies of commonly used instruments

Summary: The prevalence of eating disorders is increasing globally, but there is a lack of research on the psychometric properties of commonly used measures for assessing eating disorder symptoms in low- and middle-income countries. To promote early detection and treatment of eating disorder symptoms, instruments with adequate psychometric properties should be available worldwide.

Body appreciation and its psychological correlates: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to examine the associations between body appreciation and psychological wellbeing. The results showed consistent associations between body appreciation and better psychological wellbeing, even after controlling for negative body image. Body appreciation was negatively associated with eating pathology, body image disturbances, and general psychopathology, and positively associated with adaptive wellbeing constructs. The findings suggest that body appreciation could be a promising intervention target in mental health promotion and eating disorder prevention programs.

Eating disorder severity and psychological morbidity in adolescents with anorexia nervosa or atypical anorexia nervosa and premorbid overweight/obesity

Summary: The study found that adolescents with a history of overweight/obesity who have anorexia nervosa may experience greater severity of eating disorder symptoms and psychological morbidity compared to patients with normal weight histories. Weight-based teasing was associated with ED symptoms, anxiety, and depression for all patients, regardless of their premorbid weight status.

Comorbid mental disorders during long-term course in a nationwide cohort of patients with anorexia nervosa

Summary: The study found that patients with anorexia nervosa have a higher risk of developing any non-eating mental disorder in the first 2 years and 20 years after the initial diagnosis. Especially in the first few years after diagnosis, patients have a higher risk of comorbid mental disorders.
