CuInS2-based photocatalysts for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution via water splitting

Yuqi Yang et al.

Summary: The development of durable and effective semiconductor photocatalysts is crucial for efficient photocatalytic hydrogen evolution (PHE). Copper indium sulfide (CuInS2) is a promising material for solar-to-chemical energy application due to its suitable bandgap, environmentally friendly elements, and low melting point. However, the PHE performance of CuInS2-based photocatalysts still struggles to meet commercial application requirements and needs further improvement. This review discusses the semiconductor properties of CuInS2, its PHE mechanism, and the factors affecting its PHE performance, as well as the current issues and possible solutions for CuInS2-based photocatalysts in PHE applications.
