Tumor tissue-specific bacterial biomarker panel for colorectal cancer: Bacteroides massiliensis, Alistipes species, Alistipes onderdonkii, Bifidobacterium pseudocatenulatum, Corynebacterium appendicis

Rizwana Hasan et al.

Summary: This study investigated the microbial signature in tumor tissues from North Indian CRC patients. The results showed a decreased diversity among the tumor-associated microbial communities and differential expression of Proteobacteria at the phyla level. Four distinct species were identified only in CRC tissues. The findings suggest that microbial signatures can be used as potential biomarkers in the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment management of CRC.

Posttraumatic Stress in Patients With Inflammatory Bowel Disease: Prevalence and Relationships to Patient-Reported Outcomes

Tiffany H. Taft et al.

Summary: Patients with chronic illness, such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), are at increased risk for posttraumatic stress (PTS) symptoms related to medical trauma. Approximately one-third of IBD patients may experience significant PTS symptoms, and certain demographic groups are at higher risk. Patients with higher PTS symptoms are less likely to be in remission and may utilize more outpatient gastrointestinal services.

Stressful events induce long-term gut microbiota dysbiosis and associated post-traumatic stress symptoms in healthcare workers fighting against COVID-

Fengjie Gao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the association between psychological stress of frontline healthcare workers (FHWs) and gut microbiota. The results show that stressful events induce significant depression, anxiety, and stress in FHWs and disrupt the gut microbiome, with gut dysbiosis persisting for at least half a year.

Examining the Relationship Between Hair Cortisol With Stress-Related and Transdiagnostic Subclinical Measures

Pilar Torrecilla et al.

Summary: This study examined the relationship between Hair cortisol concentrations (HCC) and a range of stress-related and transdiagnostic subclinical measures in non-clinical young adults, finding no significant associations between HCC and these measures. The only trends observed were for suspiciousness and disorganization to show a small positive association with HCC.

Veillonellaceae family members uniquely alter the cervical metabolic microenvironment in a human three-dimensional epithelial model

Mary E. Salliss et al.

Summary: This study used a human three-dimensional cervical epithelial cell model and metabolomics analysis to investigate the immunometabolic contribution of three members of the Veillonellaceae family to the pathogenesis of bacterial vaginosis. Different bacteria infections induced distinct metabolic and immune responses, providing unique insights into the specific contributions of Veillonellaceae members to women's health and BV.
