Current and future trends for spinel-type electrocatalysts in electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction

Hydrolytic transformation mechanism of tetracycline antibiotics: Reaction kinetics, products identification and determination in WWTPs

Summary: This study investigated the hydrolytic transformation of four tetracycline antibiotics under different environmental conditions and identified their transformation products in wastewater treatment plants. The results showed that hydrolysis rates were influenced by environmental conditions and temperature, with some hydrolysis products exhibiting higher predicted toxicity than their parent compounds. These findings suggest that the hydrolysis products of tetracycline antibiotics should be included in environmental monitoring and risk assessment.

Performance of NiO intercalated rGO nanocomposites for NH3 sensing at room temperature

Summary: NiO intercalated reduced graphene oxide nanocomposites with various amounts of NiO nanoparticles were prepared and showed excellent NH3 gas sensing performance. Increasing the amount of NiO nanoparticles enhanced gas response ability and response/recovery time. The nanocomposites demonstrated promising potential for room temperature NH3 detection by combining NiO nanoparticles with reduced graphene oxide.

Surfactants assisted synthesis of WO3 nanoparticles with improved photocatalytic and antibacterial activity: A strong impact of morphology

Summary: In this study, surfactant-assisted WO3 nanoparticles were synthesized by a chemical co-precipitation method. The synthesized samples were characterized using various techniques to analyze their structural and properties. The results showed that CTAB-assisted WO3 nanoplates exhibited excellent photocatalytic and antibacterial activity, indicating their potential applications in these fields.

Effect of incorporation of La into WO3 nanorods for improving photocatalytic activity under visible light irradiation

Summary: This paper presents a facile method for synthesizing La-doped WO3 nanorods (NRs) and provides a detailed explanation of the effects of La doping on the photocatalytic activity of WO3. The results show that 5%La-WO3 NRs exhibit enhanced photodegradation efficiency of RhB dye under visible light irradiation. In addition, the catalyst demonstrates excellent photostability and reusability after multiple tests.

The remarkably enhanced visible-light-photocatalytic activity of hydrothermally synthesized WO3 nanorods: An effect of Gd doping

Summary: Novel Gadolinium doped WO3 nanorods (Gd@WO3 NRs) were synthesized through a facile hydrothermal method and showed significant enhancement in photocatalytic activity, especially with 5 wt% Gd doping which improved the separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs. Recycling test confirmed the stability of the photocatalyst after three cycles, making Gd@WO3 NRs a superior catalyst for reducing organic pollutants.

Catalysis of rGO-WO3 nanocomposite for aqueous bisphenol A degradation in dielectric barrier discharge plasma oxidation process

Summary: In this study, rGO-WO3 nanocomposites were prepared and added into a DBDP system to investigate their catalytic effect on BPA degradation. The optimal catalytic effect was achieved at a dosage of 40 mg/L of rGO-WO3, with the highest degradation rate constant of BPA being 0.03129 min(-1). The results also showed higher TOC and COD removal rates, as well as confirmed the catalytic effect of rGO-WO3 through UV-Vis analysis.

Reduced graphene oxide/Bi4O5Br2 nanocomposite with synergetic effects on improving adsorption and photocatalytic activity for the degradation of antibiotics

Summary: The integration of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) with Bi4O5Br2 nanosheets enhances the adsorption and photocatalytic properties of the photocatalyst towards antibiotics under visible light irradiation. The nanocomposite containing 1.0 wt% rGO shows optimal adsorption and photocatalytic activity towards ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin, and tetracycline. Active species such as O•2-, OH•, and h+ were identified as main participants in the photodegradation system.

A hybrid sorbent of α-iron oxide/reduced graphene oxide: Studies for adsorptive removal of tetracycline antibiotics

Summary: In this study, nanocomposites of alpha-Fe2O3 nanoparticles on reduced graphene oxide (RGO) were prepared using a one-pot method, showing high adsorption capacity for Tetracyclines antibiotics (TAs) and fitting well with Langmuir and pseudo-second-order equations. The relatively low adsorption of oxytetracycline was attributed to its weak interactions with RGO and slack complexation with alpha-Fe2O3.

Fabrication of BiOBr/MoS2/graphene oxide composites for efficient adsorption and photocatalytic removal of tetracycline antibiotics

Summary: The BiOBr/MoS2/GO heterojunction composites showed excellent photocatalytic activity for oxytetracycline degradation, achieving degradation rates over 98% for multiple antibiotics under visible light irradiation within 40 minutes. Radical trapping experiments revealed the crucial roles of photogenerated holes, hydroxyl radicals, and superoxide radicals in the photocatalytic OTC degradation process, and a possible transformation pathway and mechanism were proposed based on the investigation of intermediates.

Fabrication of WO3 nanorods/RGO hybrid nanostructures for enhanced visible-light-driven photocatalytic degradation of Ciprofloxacin and Rhodamine B in an ecosystem

Summary: This study proposes the fabrication of hybrid WO3/reduced graphene oxide composites through a hydrothermal method for efficient degradation of organic dyes and antibiotic pollutants. The structural and morphological properties of the samples were analyzed using XRD and FESEM, while XPS was used to monitor the chemical composition and surface binding energy. The hybrid photocatalyst exhibited higher rate constant values for Rhodamine B and Ciprofloxacin pollutants under visible light irradiation.

Adsorptive removal of antibiotic ofloxacin in aqueous phase using rGO-MoS2 heterostructure

Summary: This paper reports the synthesis, characterization and detailed adsorption studies of rGO-MoS2 heterostructure for the removal of ofloxacin from aqueous phase. The thermodynamic study revealed the process to be spontaneous and exothermic, and the heterostructure adsorbent demonstrated remarkable reusability and stability. The combination of 2D materials in the heterostructure showed excellent performance towards the removal of pollutants, suggesting a good strategy for producing highly efficient materials.

Synergistic effect for the degradation of tetracycline by rGO-Co3O4 assisted persulfate activation

Summary: In this study, rGO, Co3O4, and rGO-Co3O4 composites were successfully synthesized and evaluated for their catalytic activity in degrading TC in aqueous solutions. The rGO-Co3O4 composite exhibited significantly enhanced efficiency compared to pure Co3O4, showing potential as a recyclable catalyst system. The degradation process primarily followed pseudo-first order kinetics and was influenced by various factors such as pH, TC concentration, catalyst dosage, and PS concentration. HO dot and SO4 dot- radicals generated from the rGO-Co3O4/PS system were key species in degrading TC in solutions.

Cu2O/rGO as an efficient photocatalyst for transferring of nitro group to amine group under visible light irradiation

Summary: A photocatalyst (Cu2O/rGO) was prepared and used to catalyze the reduction of nitroaromatic compounds to their corresponding aromatic amines with hydrazine monohydrate under visible light irradiation. The catalyst was well-decorated by Cu2O nanoparticles and showed excellent recyclability with no significant variation in reaction conversion after multiple cycles. Various characterization techniques confirmed the efficacy of the photocatalyst in promoting the reduction reaction.
