Effects of renin-angiotensin system inhibitor type and dosage on survival after transcatheter aortic valve implantation

Ulrich Fischer-Rasokat et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the impact of renin-angiotensin system inhibitors (RASI) on the survival of patients with aortic stenosis after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), as well as the influence of RASI types and dosages on outcomes. The results showed that RASI was particularly beneficial for high-risk patients and may be dose-dependent, with no significant difference in effectiveness between ACE inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers.

Costantino Mancusi et al.

Summary: Aortic valve stenosis and arterial hypertension often coexist, leading to more adverse cardiovascular outcomes. Hypertension may underestimate the severity of AS and patients should be reassessed after blood pressure control. Management of hypertension in AS patients should be cautious, aiming to achieve target blood pressure values with appropriate medication.

Dose-Dependent Effect of Renin-Angiotensin System Blockade Following Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement

Jakob Ledwoch et al.

Summary: The study suggests that the impact of RAS blockade treatment on clinical outcomes and LV remodelling after TAVR is dose-dependent. Patients with higher doses of RAS blockade showed better overall survival and LV remodelling, with RAS blockade dose being a potential predictor for all-cause mortality.

Summary: Aortic stenosis is a common valve disease with high mortality once symptomatic. Hypertension in AS patients can lead to complications, but recent evidence shows that certain drugs are safe and effective in treating HT in AS patients.

Extent of Cardiac Damage and Mortality in Patients Undergoing Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation

Marisa Avvedimento et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the impact of cardiac damage extent on survival in severe aortic stenosis patients undergoing TAVI. TAVI had a positive effect on left ventricular diastolic and right ventricular function post-operatively. However, the extent of cardiac damage at baseline significantly influenced the risk of mortality at 1-year follow-up.
