Predictive value of left atrial strain in relation to atrial fibrillation following acute myocardial infarction

Summary: This study investigated the predictive value of left atrial strain obtained by speckle tracking echocardiography in predicting incident atrial fibrillation following ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. The results showed that lower left atrial strain values were associated with a higher risk of atrial fibrillation. Left atrial reservoir strain was identified as an independent predictor of atrial fibrillation.
