Summary: The increasing global industrialization and over-exploitation of fossil fuels have resulted in higher greenhouse gas emissions, leading to rising global temperatures and environmental issues. Achieving net-zero carbon emissions requires a comprehensive approach involving renewable energy transition, development of negative emissions technologies, implementation of carbon trading and carbon tax, as well as changes in dietary habits, low-carbon agriculture, and improving waste management. It is also crucial to build resilient buildings and cities, adopt decentralized energy systems, and electrify the transportation sector.

Summary: This study conducted multi-objective optimization on a combined heat and power plant system for energy, exergy, and economic analysis. By using the Henry gas solubility optimization algorithm, increases in enthalpy and exergy efficiencies were achieved in the boiler, turbogenerator, and condenser. Four scenarios were proposed to optimize energy savings and economic performance through heat exchanger network design.

Summary: Protected areas in Thailand are facing challenges due to climate change, with substantial spatial reorganization of bioclimates projected in the next 50 years. The consequences for biodiversity are unclear, especially in lowlands where existing vegetation mosaic is determined by factors other than climate. Increasing connectivity of protected areas and species-specific interventions may be necessary for areas and species unable to adapt quickly enough to climate change.

Summary: Heat is essential for human survival, with steam being the most widely used heat-carrying medium. A novel direct-fired porous boiler has been proposed, with the potential for performance enhancement by utilizing different physical characteristics of packed-bed porous medium, particularly the hex-nut shape.

Summary: Global economic developments have led to an increased demand for energy, putting strain on energy supply chains and highlighting the need for safe, renewable, and sustainable energy sources. Waste to energy (WtE) is seen as a potential alternative energy source that is economically and environmentally sustainable, with municipal solid waste (MSW) playing a significant role in the development of renewable energy and sustainable environments. Developing countries are facing challenges with renewable energy scarcity and MSW disposal, prompting researchers to explore alternative WtE technologies to address socioeconomic and environmental issues.
