Impacts of heater-cooler position and Lorentz force on heat transfer and entropy generation of hybrid nanofluid convection in quarter-circular cavity

Nirmal K. Manna et al.

Summary: This study systematically assesses the impacts of heater and cooler positions in four different quadrantal cavities using hybrid nanofluid and oriented magnetic fields. The analysis considers heat transfer characteristics, entropy generation, and the effects of variables like Rayleigh number, Hartmann number, and volumetric concentration. The study reveals that the mutual exchange of heater-cooler positions does not affect the flow direction, but sidewall plays a role in the formation of circulation vortex. The Lorentz force moderates the heat transfer process, and thermal entropy production is the main driver of thermodynamic irreversibility.

Double-diffusive magneto-natural convection of nanofluid in an enclosure equipped with a wavy porous cylinder in the local thermal non-equilibrium situation

Tahar Tayebi et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the numerical analysis of magneto-natural convection induced by double-diffusion of a nanofluid using the finite volume method. A wavy porous cylinder in a enclosure is considered, where the local thermal non-equilibrium (LTNE) is modeled by the Darcy-Brinkman-Forchheimer design. Controlling variables such as Rayleigh number (Ra), Lewis number (Le), Hartman number (Ha), buoyancy ratio parameter (N), Darcy number (Da), and medium's porosity (epsilon) are evaluated, showing that heat and mass transfers can be improved with certain augmentations and diminutions of these variables.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the effects of different hybrid nanofluids on unsteady flow and heat transfer, finding a significant increase in heat transfer rate for hybrid nanofluids compared to nanofluids. The analytical solutions obtained using Laplace transform technique can be used in various engineering applications and to validate numerical solutions for more complex transient hybrid nanofluid flow and convective heat transfer problems.

Nanoparticles transportation with turbulent regime through a solar collector with helical tapes

M. Sheikholeslami et al.

Summary: This study proposes the use of hybrid nanomaterials, including fin and helical turbulator, to enhance the efficiency of the absorber unit. The results of numerical simulations show that increasing the diameter of circular gaps facilitates fluid movement, reduces pressure loss, and improves the mixing of hot and cold fluids. As the pitch factor decreases, the rotation of helical tapes increases, leading to an increase in the number of circular gaps. The temperature of the absorber plate decreases with increasing Reynolds number, while it increases with the augmentation of the diameter of circular gaps and the pitch factor.

Analysis of geometrical shape impact on thermal management of practical fluids using square and circular cavities

Abhinav Saha et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of geometric shapes on the thermal performance of convective thermal systems. The comparison between square and circular systems reveals that the circular cavity configuration outperforms its square counterpart in terms of thermal performance and circulation. The analysis concludes that geometric modification is a better choice for achieving superior heat transfer.

Experimental study on the thermal control of a roof-top collective building antenna using a porous matrix filled with Water-Copper nanofluid

F. Sastre et al.

Summary: This experimental work investigated the thermal control of a roof-top collective building antenna used for home equipment control in smart buildings. The cooling was achieved by placing a Water-Copper nanofluid saturated porous matrix between the antenna and the enclosure. The study derived a new semi-empirical correlation that allows for determining the antenna's average surface temperature based on various governing parameters. The correlation's applicability was demonstrated in a practical application case, showing a significant improvement in power dissipation compared to using pure water.
