Investigation of the condensation mass transfer time relaxation parameter for numerical simulation of the thermosyphon

Wandong Min et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the relationship between the condensation mass transfer time relaxation (rc) and the heat transfer performance of thermosyphons. The study establishes the corresponding CFD model and determines the appropriate rc values for various conditions. The research contributes to refining the thermosyphon model and exploring the phase-change heat and mass transfer mechanism.

Enhancement mechanism on heat and mass transfer of tall fin with cycloid thermosyphon loop

Zhoutuo Tan et al.

Summary: This study investigates the thermal characteristics of cellular thermosyphon fins and cycloid thermosyphon fins through experimental testing and numerical investigation. The results show that the cycloid thermosyphon fin performs better in terms of temperature distribution and thermal resistance. Furthermore, numerical investigation reveals that the existence of vapor cavity in blind channels enhances condensation and promotes liquid level rise. Four optimized configurations based on the cycloid thermosyphon fin are proposed.

Characteristics of phase-change flow and heat transfer in loop thermosyphon: Three-dimension CFD modeling and experimentation

Huicong Yao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the phase-change flow inside a two-phase loop thermosyphon (TPLT) through a combined three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation and experimental investigation. The results show that the vertical evaporator heating mode at a filling ratio of 23.3% has the lowest thermal resistance, while the horizontal evaporator heating mode has better thermal performance. Additionally, the use of a porous media can increase flow stability in the horizontal evaporator.

Heat transfer and flow pattern map development of R134A in a U-bend tube for flow boiling evaporation

Tanimu Jatau et al.

Summary: This study utilized numerical simulation to investigate the flow boiling evaporation heat transfer of R134a in a U-bend tube, revealing that the heat transfer coefficient increases with mass flux but decreases at higher vapour qualities due to dry-out. The frictional pressure drop increases with both mass flux and vapour quality, but decreases at higher vapour qualities due to reduction of the liquid film.
