Effect of Metallic Microfiber Flow Through Diesel Particulate Filter System on Diesel Engine's Particle Emission Physicochemical Characteristics

Ban-seok Oh et al.

Summary: This study used a system composed of a DOC and a partial flow DPF to investigate the PM deposition. It was found that engine lubricant oil was eliminated by the DOC and the remaining PM was not significantly impacted by the exhaust after-treatment system.

Fuel efficiency optimisation based on boosting control of the particulate filter active regeneration at high driving altitude

Pedro Piqueras et al.

Summary: Changes in air pressure with driving altitude have negative effects on engine performance, emissions, and the efficiency of exhaust aftertreatment systems. New emissions standards require balancing engine performance recovery with altitude by means of control strategies to avoid negative effects on tailpipe emissions. This study identifies the need for optimization of active regeneration strategies for wall-flow particulate filters in altitude driving.

Experimental investigation of the influence of ethanol and biodiesel on common rail direct injection diesel Engine's combustion and emission characteristics

Phyo Wai et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of oxygenated biofuels on diesel engine combustion, thermal efficiency, and emission. The findings demonstrate that blending ethanol and biodiesel with diesel leads to higher premixed combustion pressure and net heat release rate. Additionally, the inclusion of ethanol and biodiesel reduces particle emissions by over 50%.

Influence of V2O5 and AlF3 on Microstructure of Acicular Mullite Diesel Particulate Filter Along with Soot Oxidation Kinetics

Eakkawut Saenkhumvong et al.

Summary: Aluminium oxide and silicon dioxide are used as raw materials for fabricating main structures of mullite diesel particulate filters, with additional substances such as titanium dioxide, aluminium fluoride, and vanadium oxide applied to develop acicular mullite structure. Carbon black is used to create pores in the filters and control factors including pore size, porosity, surface roughness, and microstructure by adjusting the amounts of additives. Raman spectroscopy analysis demonstrates that carbon black's micro and nanostructure can effectively simulate diesel soot particles, while the oxidation kinetics of soot particles on mullite and acicular mullite membrane were investigated using different techniques.

Physicochemical characterization of direct injection Engines's soot using TEM, EDS, X-ray diffraction and TGA

Hay Mon Oo et al.

Summary: The study successfully investigated the physical characteristics and elemental composition of PMs from GDI-SI engines using TEM-EDS and TGA analysis. The morphology of GDI-PMs is similar to DDI-CI engine's PMs, composed of single primary nanoparticles with carbon crystallites, both crystalline and amorphous in structure. Additionally, the oxidation kinetics of GDI-PMs were found to be faster than DDI-PMs and carbon black due to primary particle size, fringe length, and crystal size differences.
