Latent disconnectome prediction of long-term cognitive-behavioural symptoms in stroke

Lia Talozzi et al.

Summary: Stroke has a significant impact on quality of life, but predicting long-term cognitive evolution is difficult. This study presents a comprehensive framework for predicting neuropsychological scores one year after stroke based on white matter disconnections. The framework outperforms other models and provides a comprehensive atlas of disconnectome-deficit relations. It aims to reduce the burden of cognitive deficits, personalize treatment programs, and discover new treatment targets.

Post-stroke outcomes predicted from multivariate lesion-behaviour and lesion network mapping

Mark Bowren et al.

Summary: Predicting chronic post-stroke outcomes is challenging due to individual variability and reliance on clinical heuristics. This study explores the use of lesion-behaviour mapping and structural and functional lesion networks to improve prediction of 12-month cognitive and motor outcomes in stroke patients. The results show that both methods can significantly predict variance in outcomes, with variations in performance for specific deficits.

White Matter Functional Connectivity in Resting-State fMRI: Robustness, Reliability, and Relationships to Gray Matter

Pan Wang et al.

Summary: A comprehensive characterization of the spatiotemporal organization in the whole brain is critical for understanding the function and dysfunction of the human brain. This study found that white matter functional connectivity is more dynamic than gray matter functional connectivity, suggesting that white matter may hold important cues for establishing the functional organization of the whole brain.

White matter substrates of functional connectivity dynamics in the human brain

Gianpaolo Antonio Basile et al.

Summary: This study used the track-weighted dynamic functional connectivity model to investigate the contribution of structural connectivity to functional connectivity dynamics. The results showed that this model can provide functional information about white matter activity, capturing meaningful features of brain connectivity organization and predicting higher-order cognitive performance.

Functionnectome as a framework to analyse the contribution of brain circuits to fMRI

Victor Nozais et al.

Summary: Functional neuroimaging has shifted towards a more integrated view of brain regions within functional networks. Nozais et al introduce a method, the Functionnectome, which combines fMRI functional signals with white matter circuitry anatomy to chart maps of functional white matter, offering new avenues for studying functional networks.

Structural and functional connectivity mapping of the human corpus callosum organization with white-matter functional networks

Pan Wang et al.

Summary: This study identified the structural and functional connectivity between the human corpus callosum and various WM-FNs using data from 108 healthy subjects. Results showed unique spatial distribution patterns of the corpus callosum connecting to different WM-FNs, while also illustrating important differences between structural and functional connectivity mapping.

Deep Learning-based Classification of Resting-state fMRI Independent-component Analysis

Victor Nozais et al.

Summary: Functional connectivity analyses of fMRI data have identified resting-state networks (RSNs) in the brain, and a deep learning approach was proposed to automatically classify individual independent components into predefined RSNs. The method achieved high accuracy in classification and demonstrated good spatial overlap between cortical RSNs. Additionally, an RSN atlas was created based on another database, providing a brain parcellation in 29 RSNs covering 96% of the gray matter, with potential applications in individual-based network analysis.
