A series of stable, metastable and unstable salts of Imatinib with improved solubility

Zheng-Yu Fang et al.

Summary: Pharmaceutical salt formation is the preferred method to improve the physicochemical properties of APIs. This study designed and synthesized a series of new salts to enhance the solubility of Imatinib. Characterization techniques were used to investigate the salts, and their solubility and stability were evaluated. The results showed significant improvement in solubility and dissolution rate for three salts.

Five Cocrystal Forms of Antitumor Drug Temozolomide with p-Hydroxybenzoic Acid: Structure, Computational Analysis, Characterizations, Stability, and Transformation

Hongmei Yu et al.

Summary: This paper reports the cocrystallization of Temozolomide with p-hydroxybenzoic acid, resulting in five different forms characterized and evaluated through single-crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermal analysis, and stability tests. The study found that the incorporation of solvent/water molecules, supramolecular synthon distinctions, and conformation flexibility of TMZ contribute to the crystal form differences, with the feeding ratio of starting components and the solvent used playing a crucial role in determining the resulting form.

Can We Identify the Salt-Cocrystal Continuum State Using XPS?

Srinu Tothadi et al.

Summary: X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was used to investigate the intermediate states of proton transfer from a carboxylic acid to nitrogen. The study successfully differentiated between salts and cocrystals using N 1s XPS spectra, confirming the predictive ability of XPS in distinguishing intermediate states.

Venlafaxine Caffeic Acid Salt: Synthesis, Structural Characterization, and Hypoglycemic Effect Analysis

Hongmei Yu et al.

Summary: Depression is closely related to diabetes, and depressive symptoms are independent risk factors for the development of type 2 diabetes. Venlafaxine, a commonly used antidepressant, may cause hypoglycemia in overdose. A new salt formed by venlafaxine and caffeic acid has higher solubility and significant hypoglycemic activity, making it a promising option for patients with major depressive disorder and type 2 diabetes.
