Cooperation between liver-specific mutations of pten and tp53 genetically induces hepatocarcinogenesis in zebrafish

Juanjuan Luo et al.

Summary: Liver cancer, particularly hepatocellular carcinoma, is a deadly cancer with poor prognosis worldwide due to limited understanding of hepatocarcinogenesis. Previous studies have identified PTEN and TP53 mutations as common genetic events in hepatocarcinogenesis. This study in zebrafish demonstrates the crosstalk between abnormal Pten and Tp53 pathways during hepatocarcinogenesis, with potential implications for developing preclinical cancer models and drug screening platforms.
