The cerebellum role in arterial hypertension

Alexandre A. Vetcher et al.

Summary: Considering the functioning body as a dissipative structure implies the existence of a regulatory system to maintain homeostasis. Interference with correct information input can lead to dysfunction. Arterial hypertension may be caused by the obstruction of information flow to the cerebellum due to damaged cervical cartilage. The correlation between blood flow through cervical vertebral arteries and arterial blood pressure can provide additional support for this hypothesis.

Quantitative Blood Flow Measurements in the Common Carotid Artery: A Comparative Study of High-Frame-Rate Ultrasound Vector Flow Imaging, Pulsed Wave Doppler, and Phase Contrast Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Yigang Du et al.

Summary: This paper compares the differences between V Flow and pulsed wave Doppler (PW) relative to phase contrast magnetic resonance imaging (PC-MRI) in the quantitative measurements of blood flow in common carotid arteries (CCA) and evaluates the accuracy of the new technique, V Flow. The results demonstrate that V Flow provides more accurate measurements compared to PW when compared to PC-MRI.

Real-Time Phase-Contrast MRI to Monitor Cervical Blood and Cerebrospinal Fluid Flow Beat-by-Beat Variability

Giuseppe Baselli et al.

Summary: This study used real-time phase-contrast MRI to observe beat-by-beat variability rhythms in the cardiovascular and intracranial compartments, and found differences in low-frequency and high-frequency components. The diastolic venous flow had the most significant beat-by-beat variability, with high low-frequency power in the arterial flow and poor low-frequency power in all cerebrospinal fluid flows. Respiration had an influence on the rhythms, with higher mean amplitude during inspiration.

Should biomedical research with great apes be restricted? A systematic review of reasons

Bernardo Aguilera et al.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed the reasons for and against restricting the use of great apes in invasive research, showing that there is a trend towards greater restrictions in both academic debate and worldwide policy changes. The reasons were mostly in favor of restrictions, particularly in domains like moral standing and respect and rights, while there was significant engagement between opposing positions in domains such as science and welfare. Additionally, the study found low diversity and independence among authors, including frequent conflicts of interests in articles defending strong positions.

Alteration of Relative Rates of Biodegradation and Regeneration of Cervical Spine Cartilage through the Restoration of Arterial Blood Flow Access to Rhomboid Fossa: A Hypothesis

Kirill V. Zhukov et al.

Summary: The balance of biodegradation and regeneration rates in cervical spine cartilage is maintained by restoring arterial blood flow through cervical vertebral arteries, within the framework of the human body as a dissipative structure. Recovery of the body entails reducing decay rates below regeneration rates, achieved through redirecting inner dissipative flow. This proposed approach offers a reevaluation of dealing with various chronic diseases based on already collected data and scientific requirements.

Animal models of stroke

Yanyu Li et al.

Summary: Stroke is a devastating disease with high morbidity and mortality, and animal models are indispensable tools for investigating mechanisms and developing therapeutic regimens. It is impossible to mimic all aspects of human stroke in one animal model due to the complexities of the disease. Different stroke models have unique strengths and weaknesses, such as the endovascular filament occlusion model’s easy manipulation and controllable reperfusion, while the thromboembolic model is more convenient for investigating thrombolysis.
