Natural killer T cell/IL-4 signaling promotes bone marrow-derived fibroblast activation and M2 macrophage-to-myofibroblast transition in renal fibrosis

Benquan Liu et al.

Summary: This study revealed the important role of natural killer T (NKT) cells in regulating renal fibrosis. Activation of NKT cells leads to more severe fibrosis, while CD1d deficiency protects mice from renal fibrosis. Targeting NKT cell/IL-4 signaling may be an effective treatment for renal fibrosis.

Summary: This study established three mouse models of CKD-induced anemia, showing that anemia can be induced regardless of the mechanism and severity of kidney injury.
