Summary: This study assessed the clinical characteristics, trends, and outcomes of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection during pregnancy. The prevalence of HCV infection diagnosed during pregnancy has increased significantly over the study period, along with the increase in clinical characteristics associated with HCV infection. HCV infection was found to be associated with increased risks of severe maternal morbidity, preterm birth, and cesarean delivery.

Hepatitis C is associated with more adverse pregnancy outcomes than hepatitis B: A 7-year national inpatient sample study

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence and trends of adverse pregnancy outcomes in pregnant women with chronic hepatitis B (HBV) and chronic hepatitis C (HCV) using a national database. The results showed that pregnant women with HBV had a higher risk of gestational diabetes, while those with HCV had a higher risk of preterm labor, intrauterine growth restriction, longer hospital stays, and higher hospitalization costs.
