Association of Physical Activity and Screen Time With Body Mass Index Among US Adolescents

Jason M. Nagata et al.

Summary: This study aimed to identify the independent associations and interactions between physical activity, screen time, and BMI in adolescents. The findings showed that a combination of low screen time and high step count was associated with lower BMI percentile in adolescents. These results have significant implications for future guidance on screen time and physical activity for adolescents.

A systematic review and meta-analysis of the Everyday Discrimination Scale and biomarker outcomes

Jourdyn A. Lawrence et al.

Summary: Discrimination has been consistently linked to adverse health outcomes and is believed to impact health through stress-related physiological pathways. This review and meta-analysis examined the relationship between self-reported discrimination and various biomarkers, including cortisol, C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and telomere length. The findings suggest that discrimination is associated with elevated CRP levels, but not cortisol, IL-6, or telomere length. Future research should address heterogeneity in biomarker assessment and include longitudinal assessments of the relationship between discrimination and biomarker outcomes.
