Muon-electron scattering at NNLO

A. Broggio et al.

Summary: We have calculated the complete set of NNLO QED corrections for muon-electron scattering, including leptonic, non-perturbative hadronic, and photonic contributions. Our calculation takes into account all fermionic corrections as well as the photonic subset that only corrects the electron or the muon line with full mass dependence. By expanding the genuine four-point two-loop topologies in the small electron mass, considering logarithmically enhanced as well as constant mass effects using massification, we were able to achieve a fast and stable implementation of the real-virtual contribution. All matrix elements are implemented in the McMule framework, allowing for the fully-differential calculation of any infrared-safe observable. Our results are a significant milestone towards the ambitious precision goal required by the MUonE experiment, which demands a background prediction at the level of 10 ppm.

Two-Loop Four-Fermion Scattering Amplitude in QED

R. Bonciani et al.

Summary: We present the first fully analytic evaluation of the transition amplitude for the scattering of a massless into a massive pair of fermions at the two-loop level in quantum electrodynamics. Our result has crucial implications for the determination of the electromagnetic coupling in scattering reactions and its impact on the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon.

Universal structure of radiative QED amplitudes at one loop

T. Engel et al.

Summary: We present two novel results on the universal structure of radiative QED amplitudes in the soft and collinear limits. One result extends the well-known Low-Burnett-Kroll theorem to one-loop level and provides the explicit relation between radiative and non-radiative amplitudes in the subleading power in the soft limit. The other result considers a factorization formula at leading power in the limit where the emitted photon becomes collinear to a light fermion and gives the corresponding one-loop splitting function. These findings are important for fully-differential higher-order QED calculations and can improve the numerical stability of radiative contributions in the soft and collinear regions.

Effects of Electroweak Radiative Corrections in Polarized Low-energy Electron-positron Annihilation into Lepton Pairs

A. Arbuzov et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the complete one-loop electroweak radiative corrections to the cross section of the process e(+)e(-) -> mu(-) mu(+)(tau(-) tau(+)) using the SANC system. The higher-order contributions of the initial state radiation are computed in the QED structure function formalism. Numerical results are provided for various polarization degrees of the initial particles at a center-of-mass energy range of root s = 5, 7 GeV. This research is a contribution to the ongoing Super Charm-Tau Factory project in Sarov, Russia.

Toward testing the magnetic moment of the tau at one part per million

Andreas Crivellin et al.

Summary: If physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM) can explain the difference between the Standard Model and the measured muon anomalous magnetic moment, similar BSM deviations can also be observed in the tau lepton. We provide the first complete two-loop prediction of these deviations in the Pauli form factor at a specific energy-squared value. This deviation can be measured through the transverse and longitudinal asymmetries in tau-pair events with a longitudinally polarized e(-) beam.

Moller scattering at NNLO

Pulak Banerjee et al.

Summary: We present a calculation of the full set of next-to-next-to-leading-order QED corrections to unpolarized Moller scattering and implement the corresponding matrix elements in the Monte Carlo framework MCMULE, allowing for the computation of fully differential observables. As a first application, results tailored to the kinematics and detector design of the PRad II experiment are shown, where a high-precision theory prediction for Moller scattering is required.

The Monte Carlo Program KKMC, for the Lepton or Quark Pair Production at LEP/SLC Energies-Updates of electroweak calculations

A. Arbuzov et al.

Summary: The KKMC program, published over 20 years ago, has gained popularity in various applications. While the core part remains unchanged, some libraries have evolved substantially. The aim of this publication is to archive four versions of the electroweak libraries, crucial for precision Standard Model calculations and future electron-positron collider studies.

Bhabha scattering at NNLO with next-to-soft stabilisation

Pulak Banerjee et al.

Summary: A critical issue in fully differential QED calculations is the numerical instabilities caused by small fermion masses regulating collinear singularities. At NNLO, the challenge lies in finding a stable implementation for real-virtual matrix elements. By developing a new method based on expanding soft photon energies and including non-universal subleading terms, a stable and efficient implementation for Bhabha scattering within the MCMULE framework has been achieved, leading to the first fully differential results for photonic NNLO corrections to Bhabha scattering.
