Effects of Dietary Chromium Picolinate on Gut Microbiota, Gastrointestinal Peptides, Glucose Homeostasis, and Performance of Heat-Stressed Broilers

Guangju Wang et al.

Summary: High ambient temperature negatively affects the growth and gut microbiota, gastrointestinal peptides, and glucose homeostasis in broilers. This research found that supplementation of 0.4 mg/kg chromium can improve the growth performance, insulin resistance, and sodium-glucose transporter 1 expression in broilers, as well as alter the gut microbiota structure and secretion of gastrointestinal peptides.

Effects of Supplementing Sea Buckthorn Leaves (Hippophae rhamnoides L.) and Chromium (III) in Broiler Diet on the Nutritional Quality and Lipid Oxidative Stability of Meat

Mihaela Saracila et al.

Summary: The consumer trend towards healthier food choices is unquestionable, and meat products enriched with nutrients are gaining more interest among consumers. However, the lack of antioxidants in meat leads to quality deterioration and a short shelf-life. This study investigated the efficacy of dietary sea buckthorn leaves and Chromium on the nutritional quality of meat and lipid oxidative stability. The results showed that the dietary supplementation improved the fatty acid pattern and oxidative stability of chicken breast meat, and lowered the TBARS level after storage.

Dietary Supplementation of Some Antioxidants as Attenuators of Heat Stress on Chicken Meat Characteristics

Mihaela Saracila et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that dietary supplementation of chromium with vitamin C, zinc, and creeping wood sorrel powder improved protein concentration and decreased fat content in chicken breast meat, while also positively influencing the texture and color parameters of the meat without affecting sensory attributes.

Effects of organic chromium sources on growth performance, lipid metabolism, antioxidant status, breast amino acid and fatty acid profiles in broilers

Miaomiao Han et al.

Summary: Diets supplemented with organic Cr could regulate lipid metabolism, improve amino acid and fatty acid profiles in broiler breast. Among the different Cr sources, Cr-yeast was most effective in increasing methionine and cysteine content, while CrMet was better than CrNic in increasing n-3 PUFA value and decreasing n-6/n-3 PUFA ratio.
