Cystic Odontogenic Tumor with Features of Calcifying Odontogenic Cyst in 3 Cats and a Dog

Summary: This case series describes unique cystic oral lesions in 4 patients (3 cats and 1 dog) which are consistent with a diagnosis of calcifying odontogenic cyst (COC). COC is a rare odontogenic lesion in humans and has not been previously reported in companion animals. The classification of the lesions in this series as odontogenic cysts or benign neoplasms is ambiguous.

The manuscript reviews each entity systematically and provides updated findings for selected topics, aiming to assist in diagnostic processes and highlight the potential impact of molecular results on future treatments.

Ghost cell odontogenic carcinoma: A case report
