Role of ambient air pollution in asthma spread among various population groups of Lahore City: a case study

Summary: This study examined the link between air pollution, asthma, and socioeconomic and demographic factors in Lahore, Pakistan. The findings showed a significant correlation between air pollution and asthma hospital visits, especially in the winter season. Female individuals were more likely to suffer from asthma. Policymakers can develop strategies to address the issue of asthma caused by air pollution in industrial cities.

The short-term associations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease hospitalizations with meteorological factors and air pollutants in Southwest China: a time-series study

Summary: This study evaluated the nonlinear and lagged associations of COPD hospitalizations with meteorological factors and air pollutants in Chengdu, China from 2015 to 2017. Results showed that temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and Carbon Monoxide (CO) were significantly and consistently associated with COPD hospitalizations. Females were more sensitive to low temperature and high CO levels, while elderly populations were more sensitive to high relative humidity. Younger populations were more vulnerable to CO levels higher than 1.44 mg/m(3).
