Pyrolytic kinetics and thermodynamic analyses of date seeds at different heating rates using the Coats-Redfern method

Mohsin Raza et al.

Summary: Pyrolytic kinetic and thermodynamic analyses of date seeds were conducted using TGA. The results showed that the pyrolysis process consists of three stages: dehydration, devolatilisation, and char formation. The kinetic evaluation was performed using the Coats-Redfern method, and the best-fit model was the Zhuravlev diffusion equation. The data obtained are valuable for understanding the pyrolysis mechanism of date seeds and can be used in the design of pyrolysis reactors.

Study on the Performance of Active Embedded Steel Wire Knot Form in Silicone Graphene Composite Thermal Insulation Structure Integrated System

Xiaoxia Zhao et al.

Summary: Based on the advantages of the silicone graphene composite thermal insulation board, this study replaced traditional plywood in the external wall formwork system and designed an active embedded steel wire knot form in the silicone graphene composite thermal insulation structure integrated system. The relationship between multiple variables and steel wire pull-out resistance was analyzed, and the layout form and corresponding number of embedded steel wires of thermal insulation board under different building heights were determined. The results showed that the silicone graphene composite thermal insulation board can meet the construction requirements of the external wall formwork and ensure energy conservation and thermal insulation.

Synergic interactions, kinetic and thermodynamic analyses of date palm seeds and cashew shell waste co-pyrolysis using Coats-Redfern method

Mohsin Raza et al.

Summary: The co-pyrolysis of date palm and cashew shell wastes was studied, revealing their physicochemical properties, synergistic interaction, and thermal degradation behavior. The study estimated kinetic and thermodynamic parameters using thermogravimetric analysis and found that co-pyrolysis lowered the activation energy and produced stable biochar. The research is important for advancing the utilization of these underutilized wastes and optimizing the pyrolysis process.

Thermal insulation and mechanical characteristics of polyester filled with date seed wastes

Basim Abu-Jdayil et al.

Summary: In this study, date palm seed (DS) was used as a filler in unsaturated polyester (UPR) matrix to develop thermal insulation material. The DS-UPR composites showed promising thermal insulation and construction properties with low thermal conductivity, low water retention, and high compressive and tensile strengths. FTIR analysis indicated the presence of hydrogen bonding between DS fibers and UPR, which was more pronounced at high filler loadings.

Degradation kinetics and lifetime prediction for polystyrene/nanocellulose nanocomposites

Roberta Motta Neves et al.

Summary: This study investigated the thermal stability and lifetime prediction of nanocomposites by incorporating cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) and cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) into polystyrene (PS). The research found that the reinforcement content did not affect the thermal degradation behavior, and lifetime prediction based on kinetic analysis was successfully applied. The nanocellulose morphology influenced the lifetime prediction of the nanocomposites.

Development of date pit-polystyrene thermoplastic heat insulator material: Mechanical properties

Waseem Hittini et al.

Summary: The investigation showed that the addition of date pit powder (DPP) to polystyrene (PS) composites resulted in decreased mechanical properties due to natural fillers aggregation creating stress concentration points and poor compatibility between fillers and the PS matrix. However, alkaline treatment improved the adhesion between the fillers and the PS matrix, leading to enhanced mechanical properties of the composites.
