Economic benefits of construction waste recycling enterprises under tax incentive policies

Jingkuang Liu et al.

Summary: The study found that tax incentive policies have a positive impact on the economic benefits of construction waste recycling enterprises, but are no longer the main factor after a certain period of time. It is recommended that the government improve tax laws and incentive policies, increase equipment tax incentives to enhance the economic benefits of enterprises.

Development and application of an analytical framework for mapping probable illegal dumping sites using nighttime light imagery and various remote sensing indices

Nima Karimi et al.

Summary: Illegal dump sites pose significant risks to human and the environment. This study developed an analytical framework using nighttime light as a proxy to detect probable illegal dump sites. The method effectively reduces the potential of illegal dump sites and suggests that populated areas represented by nighttime light are a priori of these sites. Assessment of inhabitant vulnerability should take into consideration factors such as spatial distributions of reserve lands and the maturity of nearby highways network.

The progressive distancing of aggregate quarries from the demand areas: Magnitude, causes, and impact on CO2 emissions in Madrid Region (1995-2018)

J. Escavy et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the location of quarries supplying the demand for aggregates in the Madrid region from 1995 to 2018. It showed a progressive distancing of quarries from demand areas and even relocation of production to neighboring provinces. The excess kilometers traveled due to this distancing and associated CO2 emissions have been estimated. Contrary to the general belief that NIMBY phenomenon caused the distancing, the main reason in Madrid region was found to be a combination of demographic factors and land use restrictions.

De-risking resource recovery value chains for a circular economy - Accounting for supply and demand variations in recycled aggregate concrete

Srikanth Prakash et al.

Summary: The use of recycled material as an alternative constituent material in products at an industrial scale poses risks to the supply chain. In particular, replacing natural coarse aggregate with recycled concrete aggregate in concrete production can lead to increased variability in supply, as the supply of coarse aggregate for ready-mix concrete production depends on the availability of crushed recycled concrete aggregate. This study analyzes the behavior of the supply chain using recycled concrete aggregate through dynamic model-based simulations to meet market demand while accounting for supply and demand variations.
