Diaminoalkanes functionalized graphene oxide as corrosion inhibitors against carbon steel corrosion in simulated oil/gas well acidizing environment

Tawfik A. Saleh et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the corrosion inhibition efficiency of diaminodecane and diaminododecane functionalized graphene oxide on carbon steel in hydrochloric acid. The concentration of the inhibitors and temperature had effects on their performance. The functionalized graphene oxide formed a protective layer on the steel surface to reduce acid corrosion.

Synthesis of vinyl trimethyl silane and acrylic acid modified silica nanoparticles as corrosion inhibition protocols in saline medium

Tawfik A. Saleh et al.

Summary: Metal corrosion is a detrimental process that can cause economic losses and reduce industrial production. Nanomaterials functionalization, particularly the grafting of a biodegradable polymeric inhibitor onto mesoporous silica nanoparticles, has shown promise for anti-corrosion applications. The success of synthesis was confirmed through characterizations such as FTIR, SEM/EDX, AFM, and WCA measurements. The inhibitor demonstrated low porosity and dense double-layer coating on the metal surface, effectively delaying rust formation and repelling water content. At an optimized concentration of 100 ppm, the inhibitor achieved a low corrosion rate (~4.0-9.0 x 10(-3) mm/year) and high inhibition efficiency (>80%) at temperatures up to 60 degrees C.
