Sonoprocessing improves phenolics profile, antioxidant capacity, structure, and product qualities of purple corn pericarp extract

Isaac Duah Boateng et al.

Summary: For the first time, purple corn pericarp (PCP) was successfully converted into a polyphenol-rich extract using a two-pot ultrasound extraction technique. The significant extraction factors were optimized using response surface methodology (RSM), and the optimum conditions yielded extracts with high levels of anthocyanins, phenolic content, and condensed tannins. Ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) outperformed microwave extraction (MAE) in terms of individual phenolic compounds, antioxidant activity, and product qualities.

Effect of Ultrasound-Assisted Extraction of Polyphenols from Apple Peels in Water CO2 Systems

Lu Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the extraction of polyphenols from apple peels using ultrasonication in a water carbon dioxide (CO2) system. The research showed that the water CO2 system, with a CO2 concentration of 5.28 mmol/L, was optimal for polyphenol extraction. The use of ultrasonication significantly increased the extraction efficiency for polyphenols and active substances in apple peels.

Impact of ultrasonication applications on color profile of foods

Naciye Kutlu et al.

Summary: Food color provides preliminary information about preference or consumption. Different food colors are determined by specific pigments, which are easily affected by temperature, light, oxygen, and pH. Ultrasonication is an emerging non-thermal method with multidimensional applications in food processing, specifically for preserving the color properties of food.

Understanding the relationship between particle size and ultrasonic treatment during the synthesis of metal nanoparticles

Guannan Yang et al.

Summary: This study synthesized Cu nanoparticles under ultrasonic treatment and found that the particle size decreased exponentially with increasing ultrasonic power. A quantitative model was proposed to describe the influence of ultrasonic power on the size distribution of metal nanoparticles, revealing a relational expression that fit well with the experimental results. This research provides a new experimental basis and theoretical method for understanding the mechanism of ultrasonic-induced size refinement of metal nanoparticles.
