Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio as a predictor of surgical site infection in acute appendicitis

Carlos Delgado-Miguel et al.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the role of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) as a predictor of surgical site infection (SSI) after appendectomy in children. The results showed that NLR value at admission was the most promising predictive factor for SSI in children undergoing appendectomy. It is an easy, simple, inexpensive, and rapid method to detect patients at high risk for SSI.

Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio as a Predictor of the Need for Surgical Treatment in Children's Intussusception

Carlos Delgado-Miguel et al.

Summary: Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) may serve as a predictor for the need of surgical treatment in children with ileocolic intussusception (ICI). High NLR values suggest severe bowel inflammation and may anticipate the need for surgery.
