Preoperative CT-guided localization of pulmonary nodules with low-dose radiation

Yanhe Ma et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and risks of using low-dose radiation CT to locate lung nodules prior to VATS. The results showed that there were no significant differences between the low-dose group and the high-dose group in terms of image quality, radiation exposure, localization success, and complication rates. Therefore, low-dose radiation CT-guided localization can safely reduce radiation dose while maintaining mapping accuracy without increasing complication risk.

Preoperative CT-guided localization of pulmonary nodules with low-dose radiation

Yanhe Ma et al.

Summary: Low-dose radiation CT-guided localization is safe and feasible for identifying uncertain pulmonary nodules before VATS, enabling a significant reduction in radiation dose while maintaining mapping accuracy and not increasing complication risk.

Dose reduction potential in diagnostic single energy CT through patient-specific prefilters and a wider range of tube voltages

Jorg Steidel et al.

Summary: Various studies have shown that utilizing patient-specific selectable prefilters can significantly reduce patient dose in clinical CT. A wider range of tube voltages can enhance the dose reduction effect, especially for iodine contrast. The findings may guide further developments of x-ray tubes and automatic filter changers.

Measurement Accuracy and Repeatability of RECIST-Defined Pulmonary Lesions and Lymph Nodes in Ultra-Low-Dose CT Based on Deep Learning Image Reconstruction

Keke Zhao et al.

Summary: This study compared the performance of deep learning image reconstruction-based ultra-low-dose CT (ULDCT) and contrast-enhanced CT in measuring diameters. The results showed a high correlation and repeatability between the two methods. This has great potential for evaluating pulmonary lesions and lymph nodes of different sizes in the future, and can benefit tumor evaluation and lung cancer screening with reduced radiation exposure.

Summary: This study investigated the acute pain induced by preoperative needle localization of pulmonary nodules, showing that over half of patients experienced moderate to severe pain during deep breathing or movement. Multiple localization needles and the specific location of needle puncture were significant predictors of pain severity.

Meeting ACR Dose Guidelines for CT Lung Cancer Screening in an Overweight and Obese Population

Robert Peng et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the feasibility of meeting American College of Radiology (ACR) dose guidelines for lung cancer screening in a predominantly overweight and obese population. Results showed that ACR dose requirements were met for both genders in all BMI classifications, with higher dose metrics in men compared to women. Additionally, the mean dose metrics in the study program were considerably lower than the national average, indicating successful tailoring for the predominantly overweight and obese population.

Summary: This systematic review aimed to summarize evidence on diagnostic accuracy of low-dose and ultra-low-dose CT for chest pathology, finding that low-dose CT had high diagnostic accuracy in detecting honeycombing and bronchiectasis, while ultra-low-dose CT had high diagnostic accuracy for pneumothorax, consolidations and GGO.

An individualized Contrast-Enhanced Liver Computed Tomography Imaging Protocol Based on Body Mass Index in 126 Patients Seen for Liver Cirrhosis

Jian Jiang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the feasibility of using an individualized liver CT protocol based on BMI, and showed that patients with lower BMI should receive lower doses of iodinated contrast medium and significantly reduced radiation dose. The 80 kV protocol was found to significantly lower the radiation dose compared to the other protocols.

Summary: The study retrospectively analyzed the incidence and predictors of complications related to hookwire localization in patients with single and multiple nodules, and evaluated the usefulness of a single-stage surgical method of single hookwire localization combined with VATS in SMPNs. The results showed that the combined surgical approach was feasible and safe with high success rates and low complication rates, making it a viable option for SMPNs.
