An AI-Enabled Dynamic Risk Stratification for Emergency Department Patients with ECG and CXR Integration

Yu-Hsuan Jamie Chen et al.

Summary: This study aimed to develop a "dynamic" triage system using artificial intelligence techniques to integrate information from initial assessment data and subsequent examinations, to improve the risk identification accuracy of triage. The results showed that the dynamic triage system had higher predictive ability in assessing the mortality risk of emergency department patients, particularly for patients with atypical symptoms.

Mortality risk prediction of the electrocardiogram as an informative indicator of cardiovascular diseases

Dung-Jang Tsai et al.

Summary: This study developed a deep learning model to predict cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk based on electrocardiogram (ECG) data. The model achieved high accuracy in internal and external validations and showed significant associations with various CVD events. This suggests that AI-enabled ECG analysis can help identify high-risk patients.

Summary: The study shows that AI-assisted ECG can accurately detect dyskalemia and predict clinical outcomes. Patients with hyperkalemic ECG readings have higher risks of adverse outcomes, and even patients with normal serum potassium levels but abnormal ECG readings exhibit more comorbidities and worse outcomes.

A Deep Learning Algorithm for Detecting Acute Pericarditis by Electrocardiogram

Yu-Lan Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, a deep learning model (DLM) was developed to detect and differentiate acute pericarditis from ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) using 12-lead electrocardiograms (ECGs). The DLM showed excellent performance and could assist clinicians in the early diagnosis of acute pericarditis and reduce misdiagnosis. However, there was a certain misdiagnosis rate in identifying STEMI cases using the algorithm.

Chin-Sheng Lin et al.

Summary: This study developed a deep learning model to estimate HbA1c via ECG, showing that ECG-HbA1c could serve as a novel biomarker for screening DM and predicting the progression of DM and its complications. Stratified analysis demonstrated that ECG-HbA1c was more likely to detect diabetes in patients with fewer comorbidities. Additionally, ECG-HbA1c independently contributed to mortality, new-onset CKD, and new-onset HF, with additional impact observed in full adjustment models.
