Construction of a Hierarchical Gene Regulatory Network to Reveal the Drought Tolerance Mechanism of Shanxin Poplar

Pengyu Wang et al.

Summary: By constructing a three-layered gene regulatory network, the regulatory mechanism of Shanxin poplar in response to drought stress was investigated. The network contained 1869 regulatory relationships, including 11 and 19 transcription factors (TFs) in the first and second layers, respectively, and 158 structural genes involved in eight enriched biological processes. Validation experiments confirmed the reliability of the network, and important biological processes related to drought tolerance were identified. This study provides insights into the adaptation mechanism of Shanxin poplar under drought stress.

Mechanisms of plant saline-alkaline tolerance

Ying Rao et al.

Summary: Saline-alkaline soil adversely affects crop yield, and human activities and climate change pose a threat to arable land. Breeding saline-alkaline tolerant crops is crucial for ensuring food security on limited arable land. While plant salt-tolerance mechanisms have been studied for decades, the molecular mechanisms underlying plant responses to saline-alkaline stress remain largely unknown.

The unique sweet potato NAC transcription factor IbNAC3 modulates combined salt and drought stresses

Xiaoqing Meng et al.

Summary: In this study, a stress-induced transcription factor named IbNAC3 from sweet potato was identified. IbNAC3 was found to enhance the tolerance of Arabidopsis to single and combined salt and drought stresses. It interacts with a group of NAC transcription factors and regulates the expression of downstream target genes, thus affecting stress tolerance. Additionally, IbNAC3 regulates the ubiquitin pathway and abscisic acid signaling to modulate the combined stress tolerance.

Overexpression of the aldehyde dehydrogenase AhALDH3H1 from Arachis hypogaea in soybean increases saline-alkali stress tolerance

Yingxue Cao et al.

Summary: The introduction of the ALDH coding gene AhALDH3H1 into the soybean genome increases its tolerance to saline-alkali stress by increasing aldehyde dehydrogenase activity, thus reducing the accumulation of toxic metabolites. The analysis of the transcriptome and metabolome suggests that cell wall structure and metabolite transport are crucial for enhancing the tolerance of transgenic soybean to saline-alkali stress.

Physiological response and proteomics analysis of Reaumuria soongorica under salt stress

Shipeng Yan et al.

Summary: This study provides insights into the physiological adaptation strategy and molecular regulatory network of Reaumuria soongorica under salt stress. The results indicate that the plant's salt tolerance is associated with the increase in proline content in leaves. The proteomic analysis identifies potential targets for enhancing salt tolerance in R. soongorica.

Isolation and Functional Analysis of VvWRKY28, a Vitis vinifera WRKY Transcription Factor Gene, with Functions in Tolerance to Cold and Salt Stress in Transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana

Wei Liu et al.

Summary: This study isolated a new transcriptional regulator gene VvWRKY28 from grapes, which was found to be enriched in grape leaves and highly expressed under low temperature and high salt conditions. After transferring VvWRKY28 into Arabidopsis, it significantly improved the tolerance of Arabidopsis to low temperature and high salt, and also changed its physiological and biochemical indicators to cope with cold and high salt stimulation.

Identification of the NAC Transcription Factors and Their Function in ABA and Salinity Response in Nelumbo nucifera

Shuping Zhao et al.

Summary: This study systematically characterized all NAC genes in Nelumbo nucifera and investigated their response mechanisms to salt stress. The results showed that NAC genes are responsive to biotic and abiotic stresses, light, low temperature, and plant hormones, and have tissue expression specificity. Three NAC proteins induced by NaCl and ABA were found to have transcriptional activation capabilities. The co-expression network analysis suggested that NAC proteins may form complexes with other proteins to function together.
