Advances in imaging techniques to assess kidney fibrosis

Buchun Jiang et al.

Summary: Renal fibrosis is a irreversible and significant change in chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression. The use of invasive renal biopsy for accurate diagnosis is limited due to its invasiveness and sampling error. Noninvasive imaging techniques, such as MRI and ultrasound elastography, have gained attention in assessing kidney fibrosis. However, these techniques still lack specificity and sensitivity and require further research and clinical validation.
