Influence of different thermal treatment methods on the processing qualities of sesame seeds and cold-pressed oil

Ying Huang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of multiple thermal treatments on the processing qualities of sesame seeds and cold-pressed oil. Among the treatments, explosion-puffing had the most significant impact on increasing beneficial phytochemicals and antioxidant properties, while causing minimal damage to protein structure.

Influence of two-stage harvesting on the properties of cold-pressed rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) oils

Ning Ning et al.

Summary: This study compared the quality of cold-pressed rapeseed oil from two varieties in Huanggang and Xiangyang using artificially simulated combined harvesting and two-stage harvesting methods. The results showed that the combined harvesting method produced oil with lower values for red color, peroxide value, total tocopherol content, linoleic and linolenic acid content, and total polyphenols compared to the two-stage harvesting method. Xiangyang and Huayouza62 performed better in terms of quality. In conclusion, the best quality rapeseed oil was obtained 41-44 days after final flowering for combined harvesting, 35 days after final flowering for two-stage harvesting, and after six days of post-ripening.
