The national school food program (pnae): source, changes and impacts

Eliane Regina Francisco da Silva et al.

Summary: This article aims to analyze the financial transfers and acquisitions of family agriculture for the PNAE program in Sao Paulo from 2012 to 2016, and examine its origin, characteristics, implementation, and changes. The results show that PNAE has contributed to the socioeconomic reproduction of rural producers and improved the students' diet and school performance. However, the funding from the federal government is insufficient and the obligation to purchase products from family agriculture was not fulfilled.
