Reduced lung function and health-related quality of life after treatment for pulmonary tuberculosis in Gambian children: a cross-sectional comparative study

Esin Nkereuwem et al.

Summary: Post-tuberculosis (post-TB) lung disease is a consequence of pulmonary tuberculosis (pTB) that is often overlooked. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of residual lung function impairment and reduced health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in children after completing pTB treatment. The results showed that previous pTB and a history of chronic cough were significantly associated with lung function impairment in children. The lung function and HRQoL scores of post-TB cases were significantly lower compared to children without a history of pTB.

National General Health Screening Program in Korea: history, current status, and future direction A scoping review

Dong Wook Shin et al.

Summary: Health screening is a crucial component of health promotion programs worldwide, aiming to prevent and manage common chronic diseases at an early stage. The General Health Screening Program (GHSP) in Korea, which initially targeted workers in the 1950s, has expanded to include the entire adult population. The program focuses on diseases like cerebrovascular and cardiovascular diseases, along with other conditions such as anemia, liver disease, and mental health disorders. The National Health Information Database, which includes GHSP information, is extensively utilized for clinical and public health research. However, there is a need to evaluate screening items systematically, reduce disparities in participation, and integrate GHSP with actual health promotion activities.
