Efficient degradation of imidacloprid in wastewater by a novel p-n heterogeneous Ag2O/BiVO4/diatomite composite under hydrogen peroxide

Jing Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, a p-n heterojunction structure composite of Ag2O/BiVO4/diatomite was synthesized using a simple hydrothermal method. The composite exhibited effective degradation of imidacloprid (IMD) under the influence of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Various factors, such as pH value, catalyst dosage, H2O2 concentration, initial IMD concentration, and anion, were evaluated to determine the efficiency of the photocatalytic composite in degrading IMD. The results showed that the p-n heterojunction between Ag2O and BiVO4 promoted charge transfer, reduced recombination of electrons and holes, and significantly improved catalytic performance.
