Adsorption of uranium by chitosan/Chlorella pyrenoidosa composite adsorbent bearing phosphate ligand

Summary: A novel chitosan/Chlorella pyrenoidosa composite adsorbent bearing phosphate ligand (CSP/ CP) was designed and synthesized in this study, showing high uranium adsorption capacity and excellent selectivity for uranium. The mechanism analysis revealed that CSP/CP has active sites for high-performance uranium adsorption, and it can be recycled more than five times through desorption with 0.1 M Na2CO3 + 2% H2O2 at 318 K, providing a new scientific basis for the preparation of high selectivity composite adsorbent by chitosan.

Bio-enrichment of heavy metals U(VI) in wastewater by protein DSR A

Summary: In this study, the protein DSR A was acquired and isolated by genetic engineering and its capacity and mechanisms to absorb U(VI) from wastewater were assessed. The results showed that protein DSR A can effectively recognize, enrich and remove uranyl ions in simulated wastewater solution, with an adsorption capacity of 182.3 mg/g at 10 mg/L U(VI) and pH = 6. Other common cations have little impact on the enrichment of U(VI) by protein DSR A. Mechanisms for the removal of U(VI) by protein DSR A were deduced from FTIR, SEM-EDS, XPS, MAP, and XRD analysis.

Mesoporous Magnetic Cysteine Functionalized Chitosan Nanocomposite for Selective Uranyl Ions Sorption: Experimental, Structural Characterization, and Mechanistic Studies

Summary: Nuclear power facilities are expanding globally to meet the increasing demand for energy. As a result, uranium recovery from secondary resources is gaining attention for its environmental protection and nuclear fuel conservation benefits. In this study, a mesoporous biosorbent of a hybrid magnetic-chitosan nanocomposite functionalized with cysteine was successfully synthesized for enhanced sorption of uranyl ions. The synthesized nanocomposite exhibited superparamagnetic properties, a unipore mesoporous structure, and selective sorption of UO22+ ions.

Enrichment of uranium in seawater by glycine cross-linked graphene oxide membrane

Summary: In this study, a new type of GO-Gly membrane was fabricated using membrane separation technology, which has stable interlayer spacing and uniform channel size for uranium enrichment. The experimental results showed that the membrane has a rejection rate of 99.9% for uranium while maintaining good rejection properties for the main coexisting ions. Therefore, the GO-Gly membrane is an ideal material for uranium enrichment in seawater.

Selective adsorption of U(VI) from real mine water using an NH2-functionalized silica packed column

Polystyrene-Fe3O4-MWCNTs Nanocomposites for Toluene Removal from Water
